Hello!
Summer is drawing to a close and we hope you’ve all had a lovely few weeks. Although we absolutely love the autumn season the best – we have managed to slow down this month and appreciate the summer season for all it has to offer. Bucket-list trips, walks in the woods and longer nights – everybody seems a little happier in the warmer months!
Recharging is over (we hope you managed some!) and now it seems time to reset, but how can we prevent the fear of colder nights and endless to do lists from creeping into the spooky months?!
1. Cosy ‘Happy Rituals’
Ease into autumn with the help of some cosy routines. Plan what you’re going to do this week when you get home and give yourself something to look forward to. Often people count down the hours until they’re back in their beds, but what about setting yourself up with your own fail-safe and cosy routine to make the most of that time in between eating and sleeping? Think candles, good-smelling showers and cosy pjs! Find yourself a new book series cutting screen time in the process and in turn, helping for a better nights’ sleep! You could even get yourself a new colouring book to destress – multiple steps make the most of your evening. Why not search for a new scent – as the nights draw in, it’s a perfect time to stock up on cosy candles!
2. Meal Plan, Allowing For Treats!
Trying to eat a little better? Save some treats for yourself – something to look forward to. Meal plan at the beginning of the week, or at the weekend if you have more energy then – allow for the odd treat meal or pantry item if you have a day that you don’t feel like cooking, giving yourself some grace for the days when life seems harder. (That way your backup meal will save you some pennies when you're able to say no to that takeaway!)
3. Use Your Calendar
Putting something off? Add it to your calendar giving it a definite time and allowing you to plan and not overdo things. Giving yourself the mental space to know when a task is coming means that you can mentally prepare yourself to get it done. You'll feel accomplished doing it, and may be surprised when it takes far less time than you think it will! (and it means that you’ll get to learn how long things actually take, allowing you to pencil in the correct amount of time in future!) You might even inspire yourself to do things earlier than you'd expected!
4. Declutter & Get Well-Stocked
Clear some space! Declutter the old, clean the cobwebs and if you like, buy one or two pieces that make you happy. Shop for a couple of home supplies that improve the mundane tasks or that make you smile. Shop our ‘Home Supplies’ or Candles for some unique items, allowing a home that's less cluttered and easier to clean, saving time - whilst allowing you the space to appreciate those trinkets and treasures that you really love. Clean and cosy, a perfect fresh start.
5. Plan Some Future Adventures
Decide on a couple of adventures or pottering days to get your stuff done. You could even research a couple of budget friendly trips to to give you something to look forward to, when the chaos of the new season subsides slightly - knowing that busy periods are just a phase!
We hope this list helps and that you have some excitement for a fresh start!
